While our blog contains a great deal of information about dog agility training and how to use dog training equipment, we thought we’d take a minute to go over some of the many products we sell here at Carlson Agility. We’ve been involved in dog agility since 1999, and each piece of our dog training equipment is hand-crafted out of the highest quality materials.
The dog agility course is filled with a wide variety of obstacles, and the most prominent piece of dog training equipment you will find are the jumps. Most courses include a tire jump as well as several hurdles. At least one of these hurdles will be a distance or broad jump, also known as the dreaded triple jump. We have a huge variety of jumps at Carlson Agility, including jumps built to the specifications required by the USDAA, the AKC and the UKC.
Our selection of UKC equipment is quite unique, as this organization can include some interesting pieces of dog training equipment. If you plan to compete in UKC events, you might benefit from purchasing some of our UKC dog agility equipment. We offer a window jump as well as crawl tunnels, hoop tunnels, swing planks and a sway bridge.
Aside from all of our jumps and unique UKC dog training equipment, we also craft pause tables and contact equipment, including A-frames, dog walks and teeters. You also will see tunnels and collapsible chutes on every type of dog agility course, so we carry those items as well. Weave poles, perhaps the most difficult piece of dog training equipment to master, are found on every type of dog agility course. We sell weave poles and handy training guide weaves to help make it easier for dogs to learn how to go through weaves correctly.
In addition to dog training equipment, we also offer sturdy wooden Cross Fit training equipment for dogs. This can be as simple as our two-piece Play ‘n Train set or our Play ‘N Train Grandstand which includes 11 different pieces that fit together. Cross Fit can be a good option to keep your dog in top shape, whether or not, he or she competes in dog agility competitions.
We also feature some cool training tools such as our wobbly Buja Board, which is a great way to begin training for obstacles such as the teeter. We also have training hoops that will help your pooch navigate A-frames and dog walks. Dogs tend to leap onto A-frames and dog walks, although their paws are supposed to touch the bottom portion of the contact equipment. The training hoops will help ensure that they cannot leap above the starting mark.
We know that dog agility training can be a bit overwhelming in the beginning, and trying to decide which pieces of dog training equipment to purchase first can be a challenge. To make it easier, we have created several different starter kits. For instance, one kit includes two single jumps and a tunnel while another kit includes two jumps and a pause table. Yet another kit includes a teeter, weaves and a tire jump. Of course, you can also simply purchase one piece of dog training equipment at a time and just keep adding to your collection as your dog picks up skills. If you have a puppy or a smaller dog, be sure to take a look at our mini agility equipment.
Dog agility is the perfect sport for just about any active, healthy dog and not only is it great exercise, using dog training equipment improves obedience and all the time you spend with your dog will strengthen your bond. Even if you never plan to enter a competition, dog agility can be one of the best activities you can enjoy with furry friend.
